We had a small group today, but still made significant progress. The boot cowl was finalized in preparation for mounting the engine. Rubber grommets were added, the fuel lines and gascolator were installed, and all the screws and nuts were tightened down. The screws and nuts that secure the instrument panel to the boot cowl were also installed, but still need final tightening. Meanwhile, the new type tail wheel springs for our Maule tailwheel were installed. The Scott rudder horn had to be modified in order for the connectors to fit, but in the end it worked out great. We also had to modify two plates that cover aileron pulleys on the cabin floor. Due to other changes we had made, the plates did not fit at first. But Mike attacked them with various tools and beat them into submission. The next work session will be Saturday, July 13th at 9:00. Engine installation will probably be the first order of business marking another milestone in the project.
