Another couple of milestones passed today. We began the day with the careful calibrating of the irons to 350 degrees, the temperature needed for the final tightening of the fabric. This took some time since the irons cycle on and off. We had to be sure the high end of the cycle did not exceed our 350 degree target. Apparently irons are no longer made that will hold a single temperature. Final shrinking of the fabric was then begun. Once that was complete, we thoroughly cleaned the fabric with solvent. The final step of the day was the application of the first coat of Poly-Brush. Neil Wright came by to inspect our progress. The fuselage is now ready for tapes, rib laces on the fin, and inspection rings and plates. The next work session will be Wednesday, March 6th at 9:30.
