Details again dominated today’s work session. After it was installed, we found the fuel shutoff cable to be stiff and difficult to operate. So it came out and was further cleaned and lubricated. Once we were happy with it, it went back in. A vinyl reinforcement was cemented in place where the carb heat cable pierces the fabric. The backing for the metal strip at the back of the baggage compartment was redone so that it could be reinstalled more easily after the exterior fabric was on. Elevator and rudder cables were zip tied in place back at the tail so we can easily get to them after the exterior fabric goes on. The big project of the day was the fabrication of a mounting for the handheld radio and intercom. The result was a nice piece of sheet metal work. We also began the large task of cleaning and organizing our project materials and tools in preparation for the RV assembly workshop next Saturday. More will be done on that on Wednesday. Setup for the workshop will be Friday afternoon at 1:00. The next Cub work session will be Wednesday, January 16th at 9:30.
