Cub Work Session #212

Today was a day for puzzle solving. Everything in the cabin that is attached through the floorboards has to be installed before the exterior fabric goes on. That includes the brakes, rudder pedals, front seat, and various clamps. The rudder pedals proved to be something of a challenge. Each pedal has a return spring that has to be held in place under tension while various spacers, clamps, washers, nuts and bolts are installed. It takes many hands and a lot of patience. The project was complicated by the fact that the springs seemed not to really fit properly, especially for the rear pedals. Finally, we dug out the old springs and discovered that they were slightly smaller than the new ones. By the end of the sessions the front pedals were in as well as the brake master cylinders. The rear pedals are yet to be installed. Meanwhile, work continued on the wing with the location and gluing of inspection rings and reinforcements. The next work session will be Saturday, December 1st at 9:30.
