Cub Work Session #194

Work continued today on the right wing and ailerons. Leading edge tapes were applied to the ailerons that will cover the cemented seams. (To save fabric, we covered the ailerons with two separate pieces of fabric and installed them the same way the wing was covered.) On the wing we used Poly-Brush to attach reinforcing fabric doilies over all of the plastic inspection rings we glued onto the wing last time. Like almost everything else, this proved to be a slow process. Special doilies were made to cover the reinforcements for the wing strut fittings. Drain grommets were also glued in place. The next step will be the cord-wise tapes over the ribs. Earlier in the week the final coat of silver Poly-Spray was applied to the cabin interior fabric. Next will be a single coat of white Poly-Tone. We stopped work early to clean up for the chapter meeting and the weekend workshop. The next work session will be Wednesday, September 12th at 9:30.
