Cub Work Sessions 180 & 181

The last two work sessions have seen great progress on the wing. The fabric was ironed to its final tautness, cutouts made for the struts, and the entire wing given its first base coat of Poly-Brush. On Wednesday, two members of the local Explorers post joined us to learn about the project and about EAA in general. After a quick slide show overview, Jerry explained a lot about the restoration process and also gave them a tour of the Zodiac. Mark Sarrasin also discussed careers in air traffic control. Chris Gunther and his daughter Sydney continued work on blasting and powder coating black rudder and brake pedals. Work also continued on covering the ailerons. The next step on the wing will be rib lacing. So that we don’t butcher our nicely covered wing, Mike Hendricks built a practice frame which we also covered and painted. The next work session will be Saturday, July 14th at 9:30.
