On Wednesday the last of the parts cleaning took place along with the first stages of wing reassembly. Mike brought in some parts he had taken home to epoxy prime including the compression struts. Some of the struts were fitted in place, but not yet bolted in. The new inboard rib was mostly installed. Because it is a different design than the original, it required some tricky alignment and the relocation of screw holes. Repairs to a dented rib were also completed. A light protective primer was applied to areas of the spars that are more exposed such as at the strut fittings. Meanwhile, Chris once again inspected the fuel tank. All of the solvent had evaporated since our last inspection, and there is still a lot of brown fuel residue in the bottom of the tank. Several ideas were discussed for dealing with it. Chris is going to check with the Cub Doctor for advice. We're still hoping to not have to buy a new tank. We quit a little early to clean up for Thursday's Chapter meeting. The next work session will be this Saturday, January 7th at 9:30.
