Cub Work Sessions #131 & 132

The last two work sessions continued work on engine assembly. On Saturday measurements were completed and the crankshaft and other internal parts were mated to the crankcase. Today the focus was on bringing the two crankcase halves together permanently. The tricky part of that operation proved to involve the sealant that goes between the crankcase halves. Silk thread is embedded in the sealant. When we first brought the crankcase halves together, the thread tried to come out with the excess sealant. This required repeated separating and reseating of the crankcase halves. Once that was finally accomplished, bolts were installed and torqued down. The next work session will be Wednesday, December 27th at 9:30. (There will be no Saturday work session this week due to the holidays.)
