Work continued today on rivnuts and the tail feathers. The many rivnuts that go around the boot cowl and cabin area have all been installed and tested. Meanwhile, we had something of a puzzle to solve with the horizontal stabilizers. The two stabilizers are identical and interchangeable and they are joined by fitting over a tube that fits snuggly inside the stabilizer tubes. Bolts go through the stabilizers and this inner tube to secure the assembly together. Should be simple. But it seems that at the factory they must have drilled all the holes through the tubes with the assembly in place without bothering to have the two sides match. So it all goes together only one way. But which way? There were many possibilities. Needless to say, it took much trial and error before we finally found the right combination and got everything together properly. Next came the elevators and new tail brace wires. We will continue work on that on Saturday, April 22 at 9:30.
